Technology for Type 1

Technology has come to play a large role in the care for type 1 diabetes. By partnering with families, healthcare providers, technology developers, and data analysts, we’re bringing the best-in-class tools to Montana to better understand diabetes care and create an interconnected network among all members of a child’s care team.

• Partnering with Children’s Mercy Hospital to enhance the MyCare app, which will serve as an all-in-one resource for diabetes education, centralized care plans, insulin and food tracking, sick day management, and more.
• Working with Big Sky Care Connect and healthcare providers to gather, collate, and analyze diabetes data to improve care for Montana’s children, including identifying early detection factors to reduce sickness.

Type 1 Teen Connect

It’s no secret that being a teenager (and especially raising one) can be challenging! Teen Connect is a virtual monthly meet-up of teens living with T1D in both Montana and Washington State. Through a guided conversation, participants can find broaden their community of friends through the opportunities of talking about the challenges and realities of T1D.

The group meets at 8:00pm on the second Monday of every month.

Supporting Kids at School

In response to hearing from families loud and clear how nerve-racking it can be to send a child with T1D off to school, we launched an education series for school nurses and school health personnel called Diabetes in School Health (DiSH). We have connected with more than 100 school nurses across the state are will be expanding this work to include additional school health personnel, teachers, and coaches. Our goal is to ensure all school staff across the state are educated, confident, and comfortable caring for students with Type 1.
