Montana Children with Medical Complexity and Montana Children with Type 1 Diabetes Listserv Guidelines/Rules

  1. Purpose of Listserv: This is a listserv for providers in Montana who provide care, advocacy, or support services for pediatric patients/children with medical complexity or Type 1 Diabetes. The goal is to create connections between providers and services for care coordination, identification of resources and support. This is open to all providers including physicians, nurses, SW, therapists, etc. The is not a forum intended for specific clinical or management questions (those should be conducted in an appropriate clinical setting/communication).
  2. How to Join
    1. Joining is by invitation only or referral from a current listserv member.
      1. Interested persons can email carecoordination@montanapediatrics.org with the subject line “Montana CMC Listserv” and in the body and provide their name and professional role, or
      2. Interested persons can email diabetes@montanapediatrics.org with the subject line “Montana T1D Listserv” and in the body and provide their name and professional role
    2. Interested members will be sent this document and asked to reply after reviewing the document and agreeing to follow these guidelines/rules
  3. Posting
    1. To make a post: email montana-cmc-providers@montanapediatrics.org, or
    2. To make a post: email montana-children-with-diabetes-providers@montanapediatrics.org
    3. Only members can make a post
  4. Posting Rules
    1. The following are not allowed:
      1. Privacy Laws: Comply with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) and applicable state and federal privacy laws. Patient Names, identifiers, and patient contact details should never be posted. It is each member’s exclusive responsibility to observe all privacy rules and laws, including but not limited to HIPAA and Montana privacy laws.
      2. Solicitation, promotion, or sales of commercial products or services is not allowed.
      3. Referrals of patients, patient services, or other health-related services or products is not allowed.
      4. Posting of politically-charged material or content is not allowed.
      5. All defamatory, abusive, profane, threatening, offensive, or illegal materials are strictly prohibited.
  5. Posting Etiquette
    1. Include a signature tag on all messages. Include your name, affiliation, location, and e-mail address. 
    2. Be respectful and considerate of your colleagues in your postings. If you disagree or become upset with someone’s response or use of the list, reply to that person directly when appropriate.
    3. Do not post anything in a listserv message that you would not want the world to see or that you would not want anyone to know came from you.
    4. State concisely and clearly the topic of your comments in the subject line. This allows members to respond more appropriately to your posting and makes it easier for members to search the archives by subject. 
    5. Include only the relevant portions of the original message in your reply. Delete any header information, and put your response before the original posting. 
    6. Send messages such as “thanks for the information” or “me, too” to individuals–not to the entire list. Do this 
      1. by using your e-mail application’s forwarding option and typing in or cutting and pasting in the e-mail address of the individual to whom you want to respond. 
    7. Do not send administrative messages, such as “remove me from the list,” through the listserv. Instead, use the Web interface to change your settings or to remove yourself from a list. If you are changing e-mail addresses, you do not need to remove yourself from the list and rejoin under your new e-mail address. Simply change your settings. 
    8. Warn other list subscribers of lengthy messages either in the subject line or at the beginning of the message body with a line that says “Long Message.”
  6. Legal.  By signing up and agreeing to utilize the listserv, each user agrees to comply with all terms in this document, and specifically agrees to the following terms and conditions:
    1. The listserv is facilitated by Montana Pediatrics but is not policed, regulated, or otherwise managed by Montana Pediatrics. Montana Pediatrics is not responsible for the opinions and information posted on this site by others. Montana Pediatrics in no way endorses information shared on the listserv.
    2. Montana Pediatrics does not verify or monitor the accuracy of any medical advice/services offered or any other information shared on the listserv. Members posting and using information shared on the listserv are solely and exclusively responsible for the posting and use of such content.
    3. The posting of any defamatory, abusive, profane, threatening, offensive, or illegal materials is strictly prohibited. 
    4. Members are prohibited from posting any information or other material protected by copyright without the permission of the copyright owner. By posting material, the posting party warrants and represents to Montana Pediatrics and all other users of the listserv that he or she owns the copyright with respect to such material or has received permission from the copyright owner. 
    5. The posting party agrees to indemnify and hold harmless Montana Pediatrics, as well as its officers, members, employees, contractors and agents, against any and all liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses arising out of or related to the posting party’s use of the listserv.
    6. Montana Pediatrics does not actively monitor the site for inappropriate postings and does not on its own undertake editorial control of postings. However, in the event that any inappropriate posting is brought to the attention of Montana Pediatrics, Montana Pediatrics reserves the right (but not the obligation) to take all appropriate action.  
    7. Montana Pediatrics reserves the right to terminate access with or without notice to any user at any time and for any reason.
  7. How to Leave the Listserv
    1. Members can leave the listserv at any time by clicking “leave group” on the group page, or sending an email to carecoordination@montanapediatrics.org
  8. Termination/Banned Members: Members who do not comply with the guidelines/rules will be asked to leave the group or will be removed from the group at the discretion of the listserv owner/manager(s), and may be barred from future participation in the listserv.
